Opened in March 2006, our state of the art facility was created after extensive research and more than fifty visits to other offices over a three year design period. It is an innovative, 21st century dental office, unlike any other in California. Quality dentistry can best be performed in a quality facility. Offices built in the 1980’s and 90’s simply do not allow for the techniques of the new millenium to be performed.
This new office is specifically designed to provide efficient general dentistry services utilizing Intravenous Sedation. Unique features allow our staff to maintain a meticulously clean office. The ultra large treatment rooms allow for patient comfort and ease of access to modern dental equipment. The photographs below tell the story of the office and why your care is enhanced in these spaces.
The two treatment rooms in the office were designed very large to maximize efficiency in treating the sedated patient. While the average dental treatment room is eight feet wide, these newly designed rooms are over fourteen feet wide. In addition to the advantages of moving equipment in and out of the operatories easily, their extra large size also minimizes the claustrophobic feeling some patients feel in the small treatment rooms that are common.
Our waiting room was designed to be very spacious. Most dental offices have small waiting rooms and many patients feel uncomfortable in them. This room is large enough to make you feel at home. Plaques on the wall display Dr. Gagne’s various certificate, training, and accomplishments.
The business office was designed to protect patient privacy. A large glass window blocks sound. There is a comfortable sitting area where the front desk assistant can privately discuss future treatment recommendations with patients. All written charts and computer records are housed in a special, highly secured chartroom that is separately locked and monitored. This offers the utmost in security for protected healthcare information.
The sterilization center meets all of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for infection control in the dental office environment. Not all dental offices meet these regulations. Ours is one of the first offices to be specially built to accommodate the state-of-the-art Hydrim instrument washing system. This type of system is the recommended instrument washing method as outlined in the current CDC guidelines.
Modern laboratory facilities are available close to the operatories. With ease of access and multiple pieces of equipment available there is a significant reduction in treatment time. More complex dental procedures such as dental implant surgery and reconstruction require a modern laboratory facility of this type.
The restroom facilities were designed with the sedated patient in mind and are much larger than a typical handicapped bathroom. The room is very large which allows the staff to accompany a sedated patient. There is a urinal for the safety and convenience of the sedated male patient. A counter top was included to accommodate purses and other personal items.
The hallways might not seem like an important office design feature, but in fact they are very important. Wide hallways allow patient and staff to move easily through the office and not feel confined. The rolling equipment cabinets in the sterilization area are easily moved into the treatment rooms when procedures that require many different instruments are performed. Seven emergency lights illuminate the hallways in case of a power failure.
After a sedated patient’s treatment is completed he or she is moved to our recovery area. Electrical power for vital signs monitoring was built into the office design. The large bed allows patients to safely and comfortably recover before being released. Our office is the only general dentistry office in Ventura County that has a dedicated recovery area.
